Premise: Set in a sleek hospital foundation office on the La Jolla bluffs overlooking the ocean, THE COAST documents fictional San Diego Coastal Health’s $1 billion fundraising campaign to build a new children’s hospital and modernize the health system. THE COAST contains the spirit, drama, stakes, and humor reminiscent of SUITS, but also offers a contemporary and exceedingly unique survey of the lives of the have-nots compared to the ultra-wealthy, played out in a far more expansive and interesting universe.
Built upon countless true stories, viewers will see the contrasting experience of private jets, breathtaking donor events and galas, and beach mansions set against a young immigrant’s journey to the US, violence against his family, financial need and temptation, daily disrespect by management, and wanting to achieve similar success with absolutely none of the extreme privilege and wealth he sees every day.
Another main character's past will also surprise and haunt once revealed.

Derrick Pena: A new employee to the foundation who is hired for basic administrative tasks, but is a self-taught data expert. He discovers the login information for what will prove to be an extremely valuable crypto currency while driving for a ride-share company to make ends meet. He must continue to maintain a front that he is not wealthy until he can show proven business projects and prove to himself “he deserves” the money. Unlike some of the wealthy individuals he meets, he will also use his wealth to help and benefit people around him, but suspicions will grow.
Jack “The Wizard” Ozanivic: A charismatic and energetic fundraiser who initially takes Derrick under his wings and then becomes his “partner in crime” in both fundraising success and antics, business dealings, and more. Jack's shocking past, based on a true story, will slowly be revealed. Jack is from Croatia, but has family connections across the Baltics and even into Ukraine.
Claire Brooks: A former beauty queen and attorney, Claire is an expert in interpersonal relationships and getting big donors to give to the money. She is a VP of the Foundation and a former litigator. Although married, Claire and Jack have immediate and consistent chemistry.
Walter O’Rourke: The president of the Foundation and an older Robert Redford-type character. Walter is charismatic, well-connected, and passionate about his legacy. He bears the weight of raising money for the hospital, but is now threatened by Jack dynamism and ultimately Derrick.
Lydia Cortes: An attractive Latina, with a master in business and public health, is hired to steer the hospital through a challenging healthcare environment with increased demand and declining government revenue.
Kenny Ochoa: Kenny comes from new money and has a family connection to Walter. He uses a number of connections to seek promotion and advancement and serves as a rival to Jack.
Dr. Bruce Taft: A demanding character who forcefully encourages the foundation to raise more money for new state-of-the art technologies and pet projects.
Hannah Culver: An outside attorney who counsels high net worth clients and donors. After many interactions and legal assistance to Derrick, she also begins to fall in love with him.
